SCGD Achieves 5-Star “Excellent” Rating in Corporate Governance for Sustainable Development

SCG Decor (SCGD) has received a 5-star “Excellent CG Scoring” rating in the real estate and construction industry sector from Thailand’s 2024 Corporate Governance Report (CGR) assessment. This reflects their commitment to conducting business with transparency, fairness, and social responsibility to drive sustainable growth. The assessment was conducted by the Thai Institute of Directors Association (IOD) with support from the Stock Exchange of Thailand and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Mr. Numpol Malichai, Chief Executive Officer and President of SCG Decor Public Company Limited, or SCGD, the leading ceramic, surface materials, and sanitary ware business in ASEAN, stated that “SCGD received a score in the 1st Quartile with a level 5 ‘Excellent CG Scoring.’ This reflects our employees’ dedication toward a common goal of becoming ASEAN’s No. 1 with a growth strategy targeting double revenue by 2030, while maintaining good corporate governance in economic, social, and environmental dimensions. This builds confidence among stakeholders, investors, and institutional investors through sustainably growing performance, whether through business expansion with environmental sustainability, developing eco-friendly production processes, or using clean energy like solar cells.”

The company recently launched high-value innovative products that meet various customer lifestyles, such as “Smart Flexible by COTTO or LT by COTTO” – an SPC flooring innovation that’s easy to install, convenient to use, termite-proof, 100% waterproof, with beautiful natural-looking patterns, eco-friendly, free from harmful chemicals, and features a non-firing production process. Additionally, COTTO’s ECO Collection of surface materials and tiles reduces the use of new natural resources by up to 80%, reduces greenhouse gas emissions by up to 75%, and recycles 25% of used water. For example, the ECO-SCHIZZO tile series, besides having these properties, is also free from volatile chemicals and heavy metals, reduces transportation carbon emissions, and effectively combines sustainability with innovative living solutions. This led to winning the THAILAND GREEN DESIGN AWARD 2024 in the resources efficiency category at TGDA 2024.

For 2024, 808 listed companies participated in the Corporate Governance Report assessment, with an average score of 84%. This demonstrates the importance placed on sustainable business development, consideration of shareholders’ rights and equitable treatment, responsibility to stakeholders, information disclosure and transparency, and board responsibilities.
