SCG Supports SMEs through Go Together Project for Low-Carbon Business Transition, Opens Factories Nationwide for Learning and Experience Exchange Towards Sustainable Development

SCG advances the Go Together project in collaboration with the Federation of Thai Industries, inviting entrepreneurs to transition towards low-carbon business operations throughout the supply chain. The initiative includes organizing factory visits at SCG facilities nationwide starting August 2024, with 8 scheduled events. Over 600 SME participants in the Go Together project will learn from actual operations to implement in their transition to low-carbon business, reduce costs, minimize risks from errors, and prepare for all challenges while promoting overall economic growth and creating positive environmental and social impact following the Inclusive Green Growth approach.

Mr. Chana Poomee, Chief Sustainability Officer, SCG said, “SCG has studied successful models from various countries worldwide and adapted them to our operations while considering business characteristics, situations, and environment for maximum benefit. We want to pass these learnings on to other entrepreneurs. Therefore, we’ve opened our factories in different regions nationwide for SMEs to visit, aiming to spark ideas and inspire green business operations in terms of carbon reduction, cost reduction, and efficient risk management.

The Go Together project emphasizes entrepreneurs studying, learning, exchanging experiences and examples, receiving consultation, and building networks to access technology and funding from relevant agencies. It starts with understanding the real problems and setting clear goals to find equipment, methods, and technologies suitable for both medium and small SMEs to best meet their needs.”

Beyond the knowledge gained from site visits, this project helps build strong partnerships ready to adapt and survive amid challenging crises, fostering idea and knowledge exchange between entrepreneurs from all regions nationwide. The project receives cooperation from the Federation of Thai Industries, a key industrial pillar of the country with over 10,000 members. Additionally, it has support from the Thai Bankers’ Association, which helps drive Green Finance funding support, promoting overall economic growth and sustainable development together.

SCG plans to further support entrepreneurs in fighting global warming together through the NET ZERO Accelerator Program (NZAP), an 8-week course from January to March 2025 for small and medium entrepreneurs and new generation public sector executives. The program aims to enhance entrepreneurs’ competitiveness, reduce costs, generate profits, and build understanding in the public sector for concrete implementation. It also focuses on systematic technology usage to increase business efficiency and creates opportunities for strong business network building between entrepreneurs and government agencies.
