SCG Receives Highest Sustainability Score from DJSI

25 September 2023, BangkokSCG earned the highest score from the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) in the Construction Materials category. This recognition results from SCG’s commitment to the ESG 4 Plus approach. SCG has achieved the world’s No. 1 ranking for a straight decade and has remained in the world’s top three for 14 consecutive years. Furthermore, SCG is the first organization from ASEAN to join DJSI since 2004.

Roongrote Rangsiyopash, President & CEO of SCG, said, ” On 22 September 2023, SCG received the top score from the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) in the Construction Materials category. This achievement is a testament to the company’s business practices aligned with the ESG 4 Plus approach. As a result, SCG has secured the world’s No. 1 ranking for a straight decade and has consistently ranked in the top 3 globally for 14 consecutive years. In addition, SCG is the first organization in ASEAN to be a part of DJSI since 2004. Beyond the DJSI, SCG has been recognized by other leading global sustainability indices: the ESG Risk Ratings – ESG Industry Top Rated for Industrial Conglomerates from Morningstar Sustainalytics and the MSCI ESG Ratings with an AA tier for the Construction Materials industry from Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI). Global investors use these three sustainability indices to ensure long-term returns, robust growth, and sustainable social and environmental development.”

Thammasak Sethaudom, Co-Chair of the Sustainable Development Committee of SCG, said, “This achievement has been possible due to the dedication of SCG people, who work and follow the ESG 4 Plus approach. Our target is net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. In the first half of this year, our cement business in Thailand amplified its proportion of renewable energy usage by 40%. Furthermore, we actively collaborate with partners worldwide to foster green innovations, job creation, and income generation for SMEs and communities, benefiting over 50,000 individuals. The Dow Jones Sustainability Indices is the world’s first sustainability index, established through a collaboration between S&P Dow Jones Indices and RobecoSAM. It evaluates the alignment of business operations with sustainable development and invites over 3,400 large registered companies across more than 60 industries worldwide to participate in the assessment.
