DECAAR by SCG Drives Low Carbon Initiative, Delivering Eco-Friendly Exterior Decoration Material Innovation, Partners with Industry Giants for “Turn Waste to Value” Project – Transforming Industrial Waste into Functional Floor and Wall Decoration Materials that are Both Beautiful and Sustainable

DECAAR by SCG, a specialized brand for exterior decoration materials focusing on facade and outdoor flooring from SCG Smart Living business, is revolutionizing the building materials decoration industry. Following the promise of ‘Greenovation for Better Living’, which aims to create a Net Zero society that grows sustainably through innovation, DECAAR considers it a crucial mission to drive this goal into concrete reality within the exterior building decoration product category.

Kattaleeya Chaitanawisut, Outdoor Living Business Manager from DECAAR by SCG emphasizes this position: “Sustainability is everyone’s responsibility. As one of the manufacturers of construction and decoration materials, we recognize our role in helping reduce environmental impact, starting from small points and hoping to create ripple effects across the broader construction industry, extending to cross-industry collaboration to help the entire country achieve greater impact.”

The implementation begins with internal organizational management. Every product under the DECAAR by SCG brand must be an eco-friendly product certified with the SCG Green Choice label, which is a Self Declaration according to international standard ISO 14021, and transparently displays the product’s carbon footprint through certification from credible organizations such as the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (TGO) and international institutions like EPD International.

“We aim to continuously improve, reducing carbon dioxide emission rates to be lower than other products by industry comparison. Additionally, we use clean energy such as solar power in all manufacturing plants, as well as increasing the proportion of recycled materials in all products by incorporating leftover materials from factories as ingredients in production.”

Certainly, the butterfly effect is important, but having partners ready to move in the same direction can create much greater change. DECAAR by SCG therefore partners with leading brands from various industries to create Green Collaborative Innovation, including: the retail sector with PTT Station and Café Amazon, experimenting with using foil from packaging and coffee grounds to produce cement tiles for flooring and wall decoration; the real estate sector with Sansiri, using roof tile scraps from construction sites and glass scraps from communities to make cement floor tiles; the architecture sector with A49 Company and affiliated A110 Company, using floor tiles containing glass and community glass scraps for display at World Expo 2025; and collaborating with the food industry to use ground and compressed eggshells to develop products that help lower surrounding surface temperatures.

“Our challenge is making products from waste not just symbolic alternatives, but choices that meet real usage requirements, creating new designs while maintaining outstanding properties in terms of strength and durability equivalent to original products, or in some cases even better than traditional materials. For example, developing the ‘Comfort’ series floor tiles mixed with eggshells, incorporating HeatSync technology that can reflect heat well and dissipate heat quickly, with surface temperatures 5-7 degrees better than regular concrete floor tiles, helping living spaces have more comfortable and cooler temperatures. These can be ordered from SCG dealers nationwide. Design-wise, we have Exclusive Collections where we collaborate with other brands to produce Turn Waste To Value products for actual use in those specific projects, such as Café Amazon facades being renovated nationwide, walkway flooring in PTT retail zones, house facades and walkway floor tiles in Sansiri projects, etc.”

These processes are not easy to accomplish, as they must start from understanding the different properties of each type of waste, sorting and preparing raw materials for use, designing precise mixing formulas, controlling production processes to achieve the highest standards, and managing the entire supply chain to ensure eco-friendly products are priced accessibly.

“DECAAR will continue to always look for new opportunities to develop cooperation in turning waste into new products, as well as developing other products to have environmental friendliness as one of their main properties. We hope that in the future, we will be able to develop cost aspects and make purchasing green products no longer require paying extra.”

“Another thing we value equally is delivering safe product systems that support the changing conditions of the world, such as facade decoration material installation systems and fence systems that are strong enough to withstand vibrations or increasingly severe wind forces, to create safety and reduce damage to consumers’ lives and property.”

Furthermore, at the recent 2025 Architect Expo, DECAAR by SCG organized a seminar on “Innovation, Sustainability, and Resilience: The New Era of Architecture – Create, Sustain, Adapt… Toward the Future of Architecture” to update knowledge on Low Carbon Material & Design, developing waste from various industries into products, and adapting to disasters. The speakers included qualified experts and partners who joined the Green Collaboration together, with many interested participants who could apply and elevate material selection for sustainable architectural design.

All of this confirms that DECAAR by SCG is committed to becoming a leading exterior decoration materials brand for both facade and landscape work that rises to create change and collaborative innovation that makes a difference, hoping that we, our partners, and customers can continue to conduct business and live sustainably.
