SCG shared insights on the Circular Economy principles at the “Vietnam Circular Economy Forum 2024”, organized by Vietnam’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, alongside leading organizations from Vietnam and Thailand. The event aimed to implement Vietnam’s National Circular Economy Strategic Plan, soon to be approved by the Vietnamese Prime Minister. For over three years, the public sector, private sector, NGOs, academic institutions, research bodies, and circular economy experts, including SCG, have collaborated to drive this plan forward.
Mr. Chana Poomee, Chief Sustainability Officer at SCG, stated at the event: “Circular Economy principles are crucial for social, economic, and environmental development and are a key part of driving ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) to achieve SCG’s Inclusive Green Growth. Partnering with Vietnam’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and various stakeholders, we have been hosting the ‘Vietnam Circular Economy Forum’ for three consecutive years to promote knowledge, understanding, and experience sharing on circular economy business practices. This event also fosters collaboration among sectors to create sustainable growth, ensuring no one is left behind.”
This year, Vietnam has concretely outlined its National Circular Economy Strategic Plan to support sustainable national development. As a proponent of ESG and circular economy principles, SCG focuses on investments in innovative technologies to optimize resource efficiency, recycle used resources, promote clean energy usage, and develop eco-friendly products. SCG is committed to fostering sustainable growth not only in Vietnam but across ASEAN and other regions where it operates.
For example, in November, SCG collaborated with public and private sector partners to organize the “ESG Symposium 2024 Indonesia: Inclusive Green Growth for Golden Indonesia” in Indonesia, reinforcing sustainable development efforts.
