SCG has been honored with the Outstanding Human Rights Model Organization Award for 2024 for the fifth consecutive year. The award was presented by Pol. Col. This prestigious recognition is awarded to government agencies, state enterprises, businesses, social enterprises, and civil society organizations that excel in integrating human rights principles into their operations, setting a benchmark for others in managing human rights across their value chains.
Commitment to Human Rights and Diversity
Mr. Ratchayut Kasemchaisiri, Chair of the Human Rights and Stakeholders Engagement Working Group, shared:
“SCG is committed to elevating human rights practices in line with international standards through its Human Rights Framework and comprehensive Human Rights Due Diligence Process. This involves engaging stakeholders across the entire value chain.
We strive to empower our personnel, driven by a belief in the value of people, to advance as an Organization of Possibilities. We foster diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunities for employees and business partners alike, providing platforms for showcasing their potential. These initiatives create opportunities for green innovation, inclusive work environments, welfare benefits for all groups, and continuous learning through upskilling and reskilling, paving the way for individual and organizational growth.”
Environmental and Community Initiatives
On the environmental front, SCG aims to build a Net Zero society through sustainable growth and green innovation, following the Inclusive Green Growth approach. This includes partnerships across government, business, and civil society to mitigate climate change. Notably, the Saraburi Sandbox project serves as Thailand’s first low-carbon city model, implementing practical greenhouse gas reduction strategies and encouraging community participation in transitioning to a low-carbon society.
Reducing Inequality in Society
SCG actively addresses social inequality through three key areas:
- Education:
- Providing short-term vocational training for in-demand careers like nursing assistants, dental assistants, and community caregivers under the Learn to Earn program, enabling fast-track employment.
- Offering scholarships for domestic and international education under the SCG Sharing the Dream initiative.
- Careers:
- Promoting professional trades through the Q-Chang platform, enhancing driver skills via the Thipphaphat Skill Development School, and providing business and marketing knowledge through the Community Power Project.
- Health and Well-being:
- Enhancing access to healthcare and improving quality of life through initiatives like digital healthcare for remote patients, the Ratsadorn Sukjai project, and housing improvement programs.
A Commitment to Sustainability
This recognition underscores SCG’s unwavering dedication to human rights and its approach of Inclusive Green Growth, emphasizing its role as an Organization of Possibilities. SCG remains steadfast in its belief in people’s potential and its social responsibility, aligning with its core principles of fairness, excellence, and sustainable growth for both the environment and society.
