SCG has partnered with Thammasat University to advance student skill development toward becoming a “Future Workforce” of quality personnel who will drive the nation’s future. Through the Possibilities Space: Shaping Future Workforce project, the initiative aims to create a “field of opportunities” for students to learn and grow through internships and cooperative education programs using an Experiential Learning approach that integrates academic knowledge with real business challenges from the organization. This prepares them to grow into future leaders in the rapidly changing business world and society.
Mr. Thammasak Sethaudom, President and CEO, SCG, stated: “SCG believes that ‘people’ are the key to driving organizational and national growth toward sustainability. The new generation has potential and energy, and they seek opportunities or platforms to unleash their power. This aligns with SCG’s approach as an ‘organization of opportunities,’ providing space for people to think, experiment, and create new innovations to drive the organization forward in a rapidly changing world. The Possibilities Space project is one platform where we provide opportunities for students to experience real work, develop various skills needed for actual employment, and present innovative ideas for society and the environment that could potentially be further developed. We thank Thammasat University for giving SCG the opportunity to jointly develop curricula that address today’s and tomorrow’s work environments. This goes beyond internships or cooperative education to pave the way for creating a Future Workforce of quality personnel who will shape the nation’s future together.”
Professor Dr. Supasawat Chachavalpong, Rector of Thammasat University, commented: “This collaboration with SCG aligns with Thammasat’s approach of creating comprehensive experiential learning opportunities. We ensure students not only possess academic knowledge but also have skills essential for real work environments. The opportunity to work on actual business challenges from leading organizations provides invaluable experience that helps students develop readiness in thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration, which are core elements for modern graduates.”
The Possibilities Space: Shaping Future Workforce project represents a collaboration between SCG and Thammasat University aimed at creating a “field of opportunities” for the new generation. The program offers students real work experience through Experiential Learning that combines academic knowledge with actual SCG business challenges. Participants have opportunities to develop comprehensive skills in innovation, business thinking, and cross-disciplinary teamwork, providing perspectives different from classroom learning to prepare them for the real working world and grow into Future Workforce members who will drive the future in rapidly changing business and social environments.
This year, students had the opportunity to solve real SCG business challenges, particularly in Smart Living and ESG (Environment, Social and Governance) areas through Learning by Doing processes. These ranged from research and concept development to prototype design and culminated in presenting their work at the Final Pitching event before SCG executives and Thammasat University faculty members.
The Possibilities Space: Shaping Future Workforce project represents one of the programs that SCG promotes and supports under the “organization of opportunities” concept. By providing platforms for new generation students to experience and expand their limitations, the program prepares them to grow into future drivers in rapidly changing business and social environments. The initiative expects to reflect concrete results across multiple dimensions: students gain confidence from skills learned through real internship experiences and readiness to enter the modern working world; the university develops curricula and teaching methods while elevating its role in creating innovations alongside the industrial sector; SCG contributes to developing quality personnel to drive the nation while gaining fresh ideas from the new generation that can extend innovations; and society benefits from new solutions or business models that enhance sustainability.
