SCG has established a target to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. This ambitious goal is part of its commitment to mitigate the impacts of the global boiling crisis, facilitated by the accelerated development of innovations and solutions tailored to global megatrends. These solutions are designed to deliver customers convenience, safety, value, and environmental friendliness. Notable examples include Low Carbon cement, green polymers, and bio-compostable packaging. In parallel, SCG is forging collaborations with world-renowned experts across various industries to develop low-carbon innovation. This includes a partnership with Rondo Energy to develop Heat Battery storage technology using clean energy, addressing the needs of the low-carbon industry. Teaming up with CubicPV, SCG focuses on high-efficiency silicon wafer and solar cell panel innovations. Furthermore, SCG has entered into a joint venture with Denka in the electric vehicle battery sector. In addition, SCG is increasing its use of clean energy to replace fossil fuels. This shift involves utilizing biomass energy from agricultural waste and refuse-derived fuel (RDF) in cement production, harnessing waste heat from production processes, and deploying solar energy to minimize coal and electricity usage. Alongside these initiatives, SCG is committed to reducing social inequality in various dimensions, including education, occupation, and public health.
SCG has continuously elevated its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) operational standards, adopting globally recognized sustainability reporting standards as guidelines for disclosure. These standards include GRI, SASB, TCFD, and the Integrated Report. Additionally, SCG is preparing for new standards being adopted internationally, such as the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB).
