Atthaya Thitikul or “Pro Jeen” began the year ranked No. 20 and to reach the top spot in the Women’s Golf World Rankings on October 31, 2022.
Pro Jeen outscored Jin Young Ko to become the World’s No. 1 player, becoming the second player after “Pro May” or Ariya Jutanugarn who achieved this milestone in 2017.
A 19-year-old player is also the second youngest golfer to reach the World No. 1 ranking, with Lydia Ko of New Zealand being the youngest (17 years, 9 months and 9 days). Pro Jeen is also the second rookie to achieve the top rank in the same year after South Korean golfer Park Sung-hyun, did so in 2017.
She stands a good chance of winning the Rookie of the Year 2022 Award this year in addition to her two wins. She now holds the lead (1,487 points), while Choi Hye-jin of South Korea is in second position (1,257 points).
Pro Jeen will play in the semi-final match of the LPGA Tour TOTO Japan Classic in Japan from November 3–6 before moving on to the CME Group Tour Championship in Florida, USA, from November 17–20.
