SCG Building & Living Care Consulting Co., Ltd., a provider of green building consulting and design services aimed at achieving Net Zero, led by Ms. Nitta Bhusaciva, Principal – Building Certification and Design (3rd from left), congratulated APAC Land Co., Ltd., led by Mr. Yodpol Akaraphan, Associate Director (3rd from right), and Dr. Sirin Akaraphan, Executive Director (2nd from right), on their success in becoming the first A+ grade office building in Bangkok’s Central Business District (CBD) to receive the highest level of certification for healthy buildings, the Fitwel 3-Star Certification. The project also aims to achieve LEED Gold Certification in the future and is set to launch, offering a premium experience by the end of 2024.
APAC Tower is a new A+ grade office building and mixed-use project in the heart of Sukhumvit, spanning over 70,000 square meters. It prioritizes the concept of “Workplace of the Future” to create sustainability and well-being for building users. In collaboration with SCG, the project has implemented Fitwel, a building standard focused on promoting health and well-being of building occupants, initiated by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and administered by the Center for Active Design (CfAD).
The design of APAC Tower emphasizes seven core components according to Fitwel standards, including promoting health for building users and surrounding communities, reducing illness from health issues of building occupants, supporting social equity, creating well-being, promoting access to healthy food, enhancing safety in the area, and encouraging activities that increase physical exercise throughout the day. APAC Tower is the first project in the heart of Bangkok’s CBD to successfully achieve the highest level of Fitwel certification, with the concept of “The New Landmark of Sukhumvit-Midtown” aiming to elevate the quality of life for building users, including visitors, employees, and tenants, enabling them to live quality lives in all lifestyles throughout the day.
Key features that helped APAC Tower achieve the highest Fitwel rating include its central location in Sukhumvit-Midtown with direct access to the BTS Ekkamai station, ensuring convenient and safe travel. The project also caters to the lifestyle of modern offices from morning to night, with spaces supporting various lifestyles. It manages indoor air quality using high-efficiency air filtration systems meeting Merv 14 standards to ensure good health and well-being for users throughout the day. Additionally, the project focuses on energy and water usage in the building, choosing environmentally friendly materials to minimize environmental impact from business operations, aiming to achieve LEED Gold Certification in the future.
